Trudy Sherman

Instructor

Line Dance

Trudy started dancing when she was 6 and continued to dance all the way through college. In her adult years she attended many years of Folk dance, Jazzercise, clogging, and Zumba classes. This is the foundation for her enjoyment of line dances.

Another passion Trudy had from an early age was music. She played flute and dabbled in piano and guitar. Marching band was such a favorite that she performed and competed in marching bands for over 8 years, including college.

She now teaches Line Dance classes that she created specifically for those with balance issues or get dizzy easily. The dances only face the front of the room and do not require any turns or spins. Much of her choreography is based on popular Country Line Dances. Others are choreographed by Trudy. The dances are danced to upbeat contemporary music.

Creating and teaching line dance combines the best of dance and music.

About the course

This line dance class is for all ages and abilities. There are no turns or spins and all steps are done facing the front wall (1-Wall). As with other line dances, each person dances individually with the dancers arranged in rows (lines), all facing the same direction. The dances consist of a sequence of moves that are repeated throughout the song. The instructor cues the upcoming moves so memorizing the sequence is not required.

No previous dance experience is necessary. The details of each step in a sequence are taught and practiced before dancing to music. The line dances taught have 3 to 8 steps in the sequence.

Dances are danced to POPular songs from the 60’s to today.
Singing or humming along is an option.

This class is for those who meet any of the following criteria:
1) are new to dance or line dance
2) like to dance but prefer not to be turning, spinning, hopping, or jumping
3) enjoy dancing in a group
4) would like to line dance to a variety of music (not just country).

1-Wall Line Dance is a great way to get some dance exercise while having fun!
